General Training
The year 2011 is the 100th year since health and safety activities were instituted in Japanese industry based on a "safety first" philosophy. At the same time, it is 10th anniversary at TAIYO YUDEN since we acquired OHSAS 18001 certification. To mark both occasions, we held a health and safety event attended by a large number of employees. At the event we set up booths to display and demonstrate push-pull ventilators and safety devices for equipment. We also displayed protective equipment and demonstrated how to wear it.

We carry out ongoing measures to prevent exposure to nanomaterials, based on a circular notice issued by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Such measures involve emission control, diffusion control, and inhalation prevention. To prevent the inhalation of nanomaterials, employees were taught how to select and use protective gear, including how to check the fit to prevent any gaps between the mask and one's face.

A lecture was held to promote energy-saving measures at which employees were introduced to actual measures being taken to save energy.
An outside specialist was invited to speak about how to save energy with air conditioning systems (low-energy systems, operation of clean room air conditioning systems, etc.). Techniques learned at this lecture are being used to help save energy.
