TAIYO YUDEN's capacitors do not contain oxygen (oxides) as a component element, so heat is only produced through Joule heating due to the stored electrical charge. Thermal runaway caused by a chemical reaction does not occur. Therefore, there is no risk of energy loss or combustion in conjunction with the discharge of electrical charge.

EDLC nail penetration test

Test method: charge at 2.7V and vertically pierce the center of the cell with a φ3 mm nail
Standard: no rupturing or combustion
Test result: safety valve opening, no bulging

Lithium Ion Capacitor nail penetration test

Test method: charge at 3.8V and vertically pierce the center of the cell with a φ3 mm nail Standard: no rupturing or combustion
Test result: safety valve opening, no bulging
