Important points when using downsized products
Trends in capacitor sizes
The market expansion of mobile communication devices in particular has been a major driving force behind the demand to miniaturize components. The increase in the number of electronic components associated with the shift toward the miniaturization and high functionality of electronic devices, has led to the downsizing of Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (hereinafter, "MLCCs") and the current popularity of the 0603 (0201 inch) size. The trends in MLCCs sizes are shown in the following figure.

Precautions regarding miniaturization
Miniaturization tends to cause a significant increase in the rate of change of the DC bias characteristic.
The DC bias characteristic is a phenomenon in which the static capacitance changes (decreases) from the "nominal value" when a DC voltage is applied to a ceramic capacitor with a high dielectric constant.
The rate of change in the static capacitance when a DC voltage is applied to our "JMK105BJ105KP (1005 (0402)) size" and "JMK063ABJ105KP (0603 (0201) size)" products is indicated below. When a DC voltage of 3V is applied to a ceramic capacitor with a high dielectric constant at a rated voltage of 6.3V and a static capacitance of 1uF, there is a difference in the rate of change of roughly 50% with the 1005 (0402) size and over 60% with the 0603 (0201) size.
