TOKYO, June 3, 2026 - TAIYO YUDEN CO., LTD. has been selected by the international environmental non-profit organization CDP as a Supplier Engagement Leader, the highest A rating in its Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA), for four consecutive years. The objective of the SEA is to assess measures implemented by the company to address climate change across its supply chain.
Background
In its Medium-Term Management Plan 2030, the TAIYO YUDEN Group aims to enhance its corporate value through the combination of economic and social values. To achieve this goal, we are strengthening GHG reduction initiatives integrated with our business activities, as well as the utilization of renewable energy and recycled resources, thereby contributing to the realization of a circular society.
We are promoting manufacturing based on decarbonization principles to achieve carbon neutrality by FY2050. As part of these efforts, we have set targets to achieve a 100% renewable energy adoption rate by FY2040 and to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% (compared to FY2020) by FY2030. To this end, we are thoroughly implementing energy conservation, energy creation, and renewable energy initiatives. Furthermore, to strengthen initiatives across the entire supply chain and to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society, we have set a target to reduce Scope 3 emissions (Category 1 and 3) by 25% (compared to FY2021) by FY2030, and are also working to strengthen collaboration with suppliers to achieve these targets. For our GHG reduction targets, we obtained SBTi validation for Near-term targets in FY2024.
Based on the recognition that ESG-related measures, including those against climate change, pose both opportunities and risks to its business management, the TAIYO YUDEN Group is conducting activities to solve social issues through its business operations.
